Laws need to be changed in North Carolina so that CPMs, Certified Professional Midwives, have the right to practice in our State. In the States that surround us CPM certification is recognized, why is it not in our State?

Legally we need CPM certification recognized and NCFOM has been working through the legal system to achieve this, but needs more support. Furthermore, we need to support CNMs, Certified Professional Midwives, in having the right to practice independently. This has not been a focus of NCFOM, but with more voices more can be done. Become a member of NCFOM. It will help you stay current on the laws related to midwifery in our State.
